I only posted a quick selection. Hopefully a larger selection with crowd surfing action soon.

Get Loaded In the Park !

Monday, August 25th, 2008

There wasn’t much break to have at this year’s Get Loaded in the Park at Clapham Common yesterday (bank holiday Sunday) considering the amazing line-up! (cost me to forget to have food ending up with a bad migraine – D’uh). My all time favourite, the father of all punks, Iggy himself was headlining, after live masters like The Hives and Gogol Bordello. Just a teaser here, I still haven’t put all that on web galleries but very soon!

Gallowwwwwws!

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Ok I didn’t take the time to update this right after the show but the Gallows show at Camden Underworld on the 19th was an amazing chaos of punk rock and stage diving festival while this brilliant band was delivering their sharp and fast hardcore, a real pleasure – even if it hurts the next morning! On the very first chord the singer had already jumped in the crowd, declaring the place a total mosh pit for the rest of the gig. I can’t believe I even ended up throwing myself in the sea of punters from the stage too, from which I got this image where I can see my red converse as Frank Carter is on stage filming his video crew who is himself diving while shouting in the microphone and while some topless kid is landing on me and my poor camera (which survived the experience), good to see I’m not too old yet for this ;-) .

I will very soon post the gallery fo a selection of images and then a more complete set with the kids jumping up, down, and sideways (over my bruised body).

Here is some rawk’n'roll

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Among other things I have done these days I’m now almost up to date with my recent live images. And here is some good rock’n'roll like Nashville Pussy know how to bake it for us. I was worried it never happened though as through the first song the power shut and kept switching on and off, leaving us with a rather silent stage and some crew people trying to find the gyzmo here and there until they fixed the problem a good half an hour later. Fortunately the Pussys jumped back on stage and delivered their best wild show as if nothing had happen.

Then after a short break, Jim Heath’s guitar filled the place with the familiar chords of their traditional introduction, Big Sky, the Reverend Horton Heat had started their great set of excellent psychobilly tunes, fantastic show!

I meant to add this set a while back but here it is, a series of portraits of the geniuses that is Oxbow from California and their charismatic singer Eugene S. Robinson. Shot in Camden before their show at the Underworld.

Amazing how the time goes by fast when I’m trying to make sense of all this code. I sort of fixed the blog on IE but it still doesn’t show on IE as it does on Firefox. How frustrating is that, why aren’t these browsers all compatible? Well at least it works.

So the programming did not leave much time for editing so here is just a teaser with this band that used to be my number one in my ‘grunge’ period in the early 90s. Glad to see it still gives the kids some stage diving inspiration.

Although nothing as spectacular as Nashville Pussy’s Blaine Cartwright’s jump into the crowd after a full on cover of ‘Ace of Spades’ with the Reverend Horton Heat, that’s 2 sets to come very soon!

…but not catching up with sleep yet. Here are a few sets I meant to put online sooner, a very intense performance from Oxbow at Camden Underworld on July 15th, with a support from Harvey Milk.

Blog! And new sets soon too!

It has been a while that I wanted to give this little upgrade to my site: facilitating the updates by using a php page, as a blog. But as don’t know php and too impatient to learn an option was to use a pret-a-porter blog, wordpress, but I had to make it look like my site and never got myself to do it.. until now. A long struggle of iterations with that esoteric css code and it looks like it works! And the bonus is you can now comment on the entries, so feel free to let me know if the new page looks weird on your browser.

Right, enough on the geek side. I managed to shoot a few shows since the last update although most of my time was spent on the joys of DIY, now I have more tools than lenses and I know how to make shelves and floors how cool is that? Yes so I thought too.. A little sight of Carolyn having a look at the desastrous state of the wall we found behind the wallpaper.

Anyway the next post, hopefully later tonight, will come with a few new sets of great Rock’nRoll from Nashville Pussy and The Reverend Horton Heat but also Oxbow, Harvey Milk, Mudhoney…. If installing Lightroom 2 doesn’t cause too much havock in the Mac!

Oh, and I’m trying to transpose my archive of ‘news into the blog, or at least the recent entries, but you can access the old page here.
