Catching up with some sets, including the well anticipated Motorhead show which was a bit disappointing nothing much happened during the first three songs and the light was terrible all through the 3 bands performances. The support was from two other cult bands The Damned and Girlschool. The beer was raining over us, well let’s hope it was beer alright.

Then last week were the Jarman brothers and Johnny Marr being on top form for and explosive set of The Cribs at Brixton Academy, supported by fellow Wichita bands Los Campesinos! and Sky Larkin.

And finally on Friday, a surreal sight of the Shepherds Bush empire totally full of emo kids to come and see Californian Rap-Rockers Hollywood Undead supported by Escape The Fate. HU set fire to the crowd from the first words of their set starter, their hit Undead, with so many frontmen there’s action at every corner of the stage.. and in the audience too. It took me a bit of time to figure which one was Deuce… or incidentally wasn’t, as Deuce wasn’t present but replaced by a chap called Daniel Murillo (Lorene Drive) joining Charlie Scene, J-Dog, Johnny 3 Tears, Da Kurlzz and Funny Man.

For the second update of the day here is something completely different, a comedy band reminiscent of a Gun n Roses version of Spinal Tap, 80’s look and 80’s metal for a crowd that dressed up for the occasion at Shepherds Bush Empire on September 16th. Steel Panther jump high, make their guitar cry and as the announcer said (I quote) “they might not go down in history but they will go down on your sister”, that pretty much says it all!

I had missed out on a few metal events lately but last night made up for it with none other than thrash metal heroes Anthrax for an intimate show at the ULU (University of London Union). Now performing with their new frontman Dan Nelson the band performed a monster of a set, old and new songs, in front of a full on audience of sweaty headbangers, a constant flow of crowd surfers as well as members of Anvil. Huge.

They were supported by Suicide Silence, deathcore from California, I arrived only just in time to get a few shot.

It started for me at Waterloo when dozens of disgruntled people with AC/DC T-shirts were leaving a stranded Jubilee line train and an inaudible voice on speakers was trying to say that we had to find ourselves another way of getting to the O2, panic! A train and a bit of running around Greenwich when all buses and cabs were packed then some guy stopped the cab he was in for me to jump in (and we picked another running AC/DC-goer on the way), and there we were just in time after all. When all lights went off the show started with a pretty hot cartoon where Johnson and Young are in a crazy train until a crash and there they are, playing Rock’n'Roll Train with this huge smoking locomotive behind them, the Aussie rock dinausors AC/DC for their first UK tour after 8 years!

Oh go on another preview then

Now for a good bunch of loud guys with the Unholy Tour featuring metal legends Slayer, travelling with Trivium and Mastodon, the crowd was mental and the walls were shaking to the guitar riffs.

No new live set yet but the live season will start again pretty soon so watch this space. I spent more time doing studio work – I’ll find a way to broadcast my fashion work soon but a few samples can be seen on www.marcbroussely.com. One of my latest sets here done at the studio with young and talented guitarist Stevie Lee for some charismatic and dark promotional photos.
